A TOTAL of 9,635 new registrants in the Ilocos Region have been enrolled as members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in its nationwide registration campaign for health access dubbed as ‘PhilHealth Sabado.’

New registrants were categorized into individual paying, sponsored and others.

Dagupan City registered the most number of individually paying members with 210, followed by San Fernando City with 194 new enrollees.

The event had a total collection of P280,475 in premium payments from new registrants under the ‘individually paying’ category and from existing members who paid their contributions on-site.

The biggest collection was from San Manuel town in Pangasinan with P98,600 followed by San Fernando City with P67,800.

Laoag City topped the most number of new registrants in the ‘sponsored’ category enrolling 6,436 new members. This was followed by Candon City with 1,338.

The event aimed to encourage and enlist all Filipinos who are not yet members but financially capable to pay for their PhilHealth premium contributions to register and have access to financial protection for their hospitalization needs.

“Hopefully, this will be the start of a series of registration days in the municipalities and even in barangays. Sa mga opisina din po pag inimbitahan kami, ay pupuntahan din namin para i-register sila,” Estrada said.

The nationwide registration was conducted in cooperation with the regional and provincial offices of the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education; Philippine National Police, Department of Interior and Local Government, provincial governments and AMA Computer College based in Dagupan City.
