US trip for Libunao didn’t escape detractors

SAN FABIAN – Mayor Mojamito Libunao has returned from a successful trip to the United States to campaign for participation in the search for Miss San Fabian 2007 but found himself the object of a smear campaign by his detractors for allegedly spending the town’s funds for his “junket”.

Libunao quickly debunked the “malicious claims” and maintained that not a single centavo from the municipality was used in his recent trip to the U.S.

He said he used his personal funds to seek out and invite young ladies with roots in San Fabian to vie for the title of Miss San Fabian 2007 and to appear before the San Fabianeans  Association during its global reunion in  Las Vegas.

The mayor said he was honored by San Fabian residents based in San Diego, Milpitas and other states.

Libunao branded the latest false allegation as a concoction of his political opponents who expected to gain some mileage as they prepare for the 2007 elections.

He appealed for political ceasefire and to reserve the political mud racking for the campaign period as there is still much to be done for the town. – A.P.E.
