‘Budo-budol’ strikes anew
ALAMINOS CITY–The ‘budol-budol’ gang struck again Wednesday afternoon in Barangay Palamis here, victimizing a retired schoolteacher who lost cash and jewelry to the criminals.
The victim, Marilou Basuel, 60, of Barangay Amalbalan, Dasol, narrated to the police at the Alaminos City Police Station that she was approached by a certain Raquel Rimando, 34, of Barangay Bolo here, together with her three companions, one of whom introduced herself as “Yolly Tan”, and pretended to be looking for construction supply, specifically colored roofing for the latter’s house.
Basuel was convinced to help them look for an establishment where they could buy the material, and in return, she will be given a commission.
The group then handed her a bag supposedly containing bundles of money for the purchase.
At the same time, they asked Basuel to turn over her P58,000 in cash and jewelry worth P10,000 as guarantee that she will return and inform them as soon as she finds the supplier for the construction materials.
But upon arriving home, the victim discovered that the bag only contained bundles of neatly cut pieces of newspapers, prompting her to report the incident to the police.
A follow up operation was conducted by the police, resulting in the arrest of one of the suspects in front of Land Bank of the Philippines here.
