Veteran runners rule Milo marathon
TWO veteran runners asserted their experience and strength over a group of 10,000 runners to rule the 21-kilometer race in the elimination leg of the 34th National Milo Marathon held in Dagupan City on July 11.
Kiven Areglado, a 22-year old criminology student of the St. Therese College in San Carlos City, clocked one hour, 22 minutes and 45 seconds to top in the men’s division.
Flordeliza Donos, a native of Pueto Princesa City in Palawan, ruled in the women’s category, clocking one hour, 25 minutes and 10 seconds.
Donos, currently taking a masteral degree in Criminology in Baguio City, ruled the 10-kilometer run in Baguio City last year.
Both Donos and Areglado were awarded trophies and P10,000 each.
The other top finishers in the men’s side are Benedict Tavara who placed second at 1:28:11 while Alvin Carido came in third at 1:28:56.
Donos was followed to the finish line by Lanny Cardona who clocked 1:43:20; Jhocell Asis, 1:56:18; Lea Agcaoile, 2:02:59; and Zeporah Dalang, 2:03:54.
Dagupan City Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez fired the gun to formally start the race at the southern end of the Jose De Venecia Highway.—LM
