Fun run to benefit cancer patients
“DIBDIBANG Takbuhan“, a fun run organized by the Northern Cancer Trust Foundation, Inc. (NCTFI) based at the Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Hospital in Dagupan to raise funds for poor cancer patients in Pangasinan, is set October 21.
Up to 1,000 runners are expected to kick off at the Jose R. De Venecia Expressway Extension at 5:00 a.m.
Dr. Rosario Pitarque, medical oncologist and a specialist on cancer treatment, said the race, a sequel to a similar activity last year, is part of the observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, hence it is called “Dibdibang Takbuhan“.
Registration fees are P200 for the one-kilometer kiddie fun run, P300 for the one-kilometer fun run for adults, P350 for the three-kilometer run, P400 for five kilometres, and P500 for the eight-kilometer run.
NCTFI, headed by Dr. Edna Gonzales, a cancer survivor herself, was organized by the family of Dr. Vivencio Villaflor Jr., administrators of the Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Hospital in Dagupan to help raise funds for cancer patients belonging to poor families.
The fun run, co-sponsored by the Pangasinan Medical Society and the Philippine Society of Nesthesiologists, is the first project of the foundation.
