TAYUG–While Task Force Hagibis is regrouping, killers riding in tandem on motorcycles claimed another victim in Tayug while another body, suspected to be a victim of summary execution, was found in La Paz, Villasis.

Killed in Tayug at 7:55 a.m. of June 28 by armed men riding in tandem on motorcycle was Wendell Pajela, 42, councilman of Barangay “D” who was shot while in front of his house.

He sustained seven gunshot wounds from a Caliber 45 pistol and was rushed to the Tayug Family Hospital where he was operated on but died at 9:30 a.m.

Witnesses said he was shot by one of two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle. After the shooting, the suspects sped towards the west direction then exited to the national highway.

The driver of the motorcycle was reported to be wearing a ball cap while his backrider, most likely the gunman, used part of his T-shirt to cover his face.

The police are looking into personal grudge as the motive of the killing although they are not ruling out politics as a possible motive.

Meanwhile, the hogtied body found in Villasis may have been killed the night before due to statements provided by residents that they heard a vehicle and a motorcycle leaving the area where the body was found.

The still unidentified victim, that of a man about five feet three and estimated to be from 20 to 25 years old, sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Five empty shells and two slugs of Caliber 45 pistol were found in the area.

PNP RESPONSE

Task Force Hagibis, a special team of motorcycle-riding policemen trained to shoot moving targets while in pursuit first formed in 2006 and later disbanded, was then reactivated two weeks ago following the growing number of summary executions carried out by armed suspects on board motorcycles.

Meanwhile, the provincial police have adopted another stringent measure, a two-strike policy, to pressure to town police chiefs to be pro-active in stopping the summary executions.

Under the policy, the chief of police would be booted out from his post if two cases of assassination take place in his area of jurisdiction.–LM
