Hanjin hires 421 local welders
LINGAYEN–Another batch of 421 welders from Pangasinan will soon start working at the shipyard of Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction, Inc. (HHCI) in Subic, Zambales.
The welders were hired through the Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) that organized the recruitment held June 18.
Provincial Employment Services Officer Alex Ferrer said the new recruits are in addition to the more than a hundred welders hired last May during a jobs fair conducted at the PESO.
PESO also conducted a recruitment for design engineers on June 19 where 32 applicants passed the preliminary interview.
The applicants will be accompanied by PESO staff to HHCI in Subic for their final interview on June 26.
MORE JOB OPENINGS
Ferrer said HHCI, a South Korean company which ranks 4th among the top shipbuilding companies in the world, is still in immediate need of more workers to meet its target of pooling some 5,000 welders and more design engineers.
Application days were scheduled on June 24 for factory workers in Taiwan and June 25 for skilled workers in Middle East.
