Pangasinan, now among RP’s leading provinces

THE province of Pangasinan is now the fifth leading province in the whole Philippines in net income performance, sixth in total income and first in amount of Internal Revenue Allotment received from the national government for 2005.

Pangasinan’s outstanding financial performance was among the financial highlights of Local Government Units for 2005 again made public by the Commission on Audit recently.

Pangasinan’s net income of P297.7 million last year was the fifth highest in the entire country among 79 provinces.

The province of Rizal registered the highest net income at P533.2 million; followed by    Batangas P341.7 million; Cavite, P339.2 million; and Isabela, P287.1 million.

Pangasinan scored even higher net income than Cebu at P247.1 million; Bataan, P228.7 million, and Nueva Ecija, P225.5 million.

The COA reported that Pangasinan’s total income of P1,265 billion was the sixth highest   for 2005.

The highest total income at P1.509 billion was registered by Cebu; followed by Bulacan, P1.493 billion; Negros Occidental, P1.328 billion; Laguna, P1.275 billion; and Cavite, P1.265 billion.

Rounding up the top 10 provinces in total income are Rizal, P1.209 billion; Quezon, P1.068.7; Bukidnon, P1.044 billion.

However, Pangasinan was also listed among the top 10 provinces with highest recorded expenses at P957.5 million.

The highest spender was Cebu at P1,260 billion, followed by Bulacan, P1.206 billion.

Pangasinan received the highest IRA which totaled P993.3 million while Cebu received, P979. million; Negros Occidental, P965.8 million and Bulacan, P869.1 million.
