Information Minister Cendaña laid to rest
SAN NICOLAS – Former Press Secretary and Information Minister Gregorio Cendaña was laid to rest Saturday at the municipal cemetery of his native San Nicolas after a requiem mass at the town’s parish priests attended by thousands of friends and relatives.
Mrs. Lily Cendaña, widow of the late information minister, and her children thanked all those who came and condoled with them in their hour of bereavement.
Mrs. Cendaña said maybe the good Lord called Greg to His side for another important mission after successfully completing his mission on earth.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed a resolution condoling and expressing sympathies with the family of Minister Cendaña.
The resolution was handed to Mrs. Cendaña Friday night by Vice Gov. Oscar Lambino.
Among those who paid their last respects on the information minister were former workers of the Office of Media Affairs, the Philippine Broadcasting System, Philippine Information Agency, Philippines News Agency and others.
Among those who extolled the former assemblyman of Pangasinan was Atty. Guerrero Cirilo, former regional director of the defunct OMA in Region 1, now regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment.
He said Cendaña was a big loss to the nation and the media industry.
Cirilo said that under Minister Cendaña, at no time has the media been united even under martial law regime.
Cendaña died last Aug. 26 of cardiac arrest at the age of 76.
