CHIEF Superintendent Constante Davis Azares Jr., Region I Police Director, announced that the Ilocos Region has been named the most peaceful region throughout the country during the last election.

He made the announcement during the turnover of command in the Dagupan City Police Station.

But the better news was, Pangasinan, he said was the most peaceful in the region.

Azares, who is bowing out of service on June 22 this year after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56, said for the first time in the region’s political history, no life was lost in the region in the last election.

He thanked the force multipliers, the Barangay Peace-keeping Action Teams (PBATs), and the media for extending their help to the police in its mission for an honest, orderly and peaceful election.

In his talk with local media, Azares said he is considering three options when he returns to private life after 37 years in the service.

He can assume another government position, or join a private company or the join his family now living in Canada. The last, he said, appears to be the best for him.–LM
