Lim, Japanese officials award houses, Aug. 30
Dagupan City – Mayor Benjamin Lim and officials from Iwata City, Japan will award 32 more housing units to the family beneficiaries of the Gawad Kalinga-Bangusville housing project on August 30.
Lim and the Japanese officials will turn over the symbolic keys to the indigent beneficiaries at the Gawad Kalinga site in Bonuan Gueset.
According to Ricky Castillo, GK project coordinator, the housing project has given priority to the homeless particularly those affected by the construction of the Dawel-Pantal-Lucao diversion road, Pantal Bridge and the Perez Boulevard extension project.
Most of the family beneficiaries come from Brgy. Pantal, Arellano and PNR site.
The city mayor expressed hope that “by providing them livable settlements, it will encourage them to make a positive contribution in building the community.”
Lim also pointed out that the continued building of houses in GK-Bangusville underscores the contribution of the city to the ongoing construction of the Pantal-Dawel-Lucao diversion road and the Pantal Bridge project.
The GK-Bangusville site has already established its own learning center for GK children donated by CFC members from Maryland, USA and a multi-purpose hall courtesy of the Rotary Club of Dagupan East.
To date, the Gawad Kalinga housing project of the city has already provided 74 housing units for the homeless and less privileged citizens.
