DAGUPAN CITY—Two sachets containing suspected shabu were confiscated from two persons who were arrested at a police checkpoint conducted by the police along the national highway in Barangay Bonuan Gueset here Thursday.

Supt. Romeo Caramat, city police chief, identified the suspects as Valentin Castro, 40, a fish vendor, and Andrew Calimquim, 18, both of Plaza Rizal, Poblacion, Binmaley.

The two, on board a Yamaha 135 single motorcycle without plate number, were cornered by the police after they tried to flee a scene of an accident wherein they bumped a motorcycle in front of them during a routine checkpoint.

The police said one of the suspects, Castro, even tried to pull out his tucked bladed weapon when accosted by the officers.

Both were brought to R1MC for medico-legal examination and later turned over to the police headquarters.

A case for violation of Republic Act 9165 of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is now being readied against the suspects.
