Best bangus entries picked in 9th Rodeo
AS in other festivals, a beauty pageant is always held. So there can be no true bangus festival if the prettiest, the longest and heaviest bangus are not chosen.
This year’s longest bangus belonged to Antonio Caneng which measured at 85 centimeters but broke no record. This year’s longest was shorter than last year’s longest, by 4 cms, also by owned by Caneng.
The heaviest bangus , owned by Kevin Caneng (Antonio’s brother) , tipped the scale at 5.75 kilograms.
And this year’s prettiest was submitted by March Joshua Fernandez.
All winning owners are from Dagupan City and won P15,000 each. Entries from Bolinao, Lingayen and Binmaley were also presented.
City Mayor Al Fernandez hailed the patience of Dagupan fish farmers to purposely raise and develop their entries for the Bangus Rodeo Open Competition.
The capability of the winners to develop entries attests to the advantage and benefit of fish farmers who use the fishponds.
In the special events, the “Fastest Bangus Classifier” was Cris Alcaparas while Huv Tendenilla was crowned as “Fastest Bangus Deboner”.
In another fun-filled event, Joey Serano and Rowena Melendez were adjudged the “Fastest Bangus Eating Couple”.
All the winners in the special events received P3,000.
