Undaunted, Manay Gina sees win by a mile

Former Speaker Joe and wife Gina de Venecia can be considered veteran politicians but were still shocked by the  ‘dirty tricks’ heaped thrown their way by their political enemies.

But they remain undaunted even by series of acts of intimidation directed at them because they consider all these as minor distractions to her march to victory on May 20.

The most recent intimidation they received was the visit of a woman to the couple’s residence who introduced herself as a staff member of presidential candidate purportedly to conduct a survey in the area.

Fans welcome Manay Gina de Venecia in one of her sorties in the Fourth District of Pangasinan.

She aroused the staff’s suspicion when she started to take pictures in and outside the house without obtaining permission from any member of the household. She also took photos of some of the people around, including the plate number of vehicles going in and out of the compound.

When she was accosted by the guard, she introduced herself as  “Lou Vilrus” but it was not the name on the identification card she wore.

When interviewed by broadcaster Violy Valdez of Aksyon Radyo, she had different stories about purpose of her visit making the supporters suspect her true motive.

Manay Gina also noticed several motorcycle-riding men following her convoy on several instances who appeared to be monitoring her every move. She said black propaganda items were also sent via text messages to her staff and circle of friends.

“I am simply happy because Team De Venecia is solid. We are supported by the five mayors of Mangaldan, San Jacinto, San Fabian, Manaoag and Dagupan, together with their respective vice mayors and councilors, Barangay captains and other barangay officials from 140 barangays in the Fourth District.

Talagang  nagta-trabaho kami as a team para manalo,” she said.

Wherever she holds her sorties, Manay Gina is mobbed by adoring supporters.

In Dagupan, Team GAB is predicted to notch a convincing win.

“Example here is the Seafood Processing Plant. This was not realized early because the vision of Kuya Joe and the former mayor was different.

“But because your Kuya Joe teamed up with Mayor Al and Vice Mayor Belen the Seafood Processing Plant is already a reality and can give jobs to at least 600 families.

“That is why I ask you to support Team GAB (Gina-Al-Belen) so that progress and development in our city will continue.”

Gina de V ignores Lim’s politics of hate

It’s politics of performance versus politics of hate.

Fourth District Congressional candidate Manay Gina de Venecia is banking on her solid performance as a humanitarian and “Champion of the Abused” for the past 25 years.

Her credential, as head of the Congressional Spouses Foundation, is also backed by her husband, five- time Speaker Joe de Venecia whose term is defined by excellent accomplishments, particularly in infrastructure and agriculture as well as big projects such as the De Venecia Expressway and bridge and the recently inaugurated Seafood Processing Plant, both in Dagupan City.

Manay Gina de Venecia dances with comedian Sha-la-la and son Christopher in one of her sorties in the Fourth District.

While Manay Gina continues to lead in the different surveys as the most likely winner in the coming polls, her supporters decry her opponent’s persistent personal attacks against Manay Gina.

A recent survey in Mangaldan gave Manay Gina a whooping 85 percent rating, while she got a high 93 percent in Manaoag.

Hot FM radio, in its daily on-air survey, consistently rates Manay Gina with a high 85 percent as the favored congressional candidate.

“It’s just sad that the idea of losing brings out the worst in some people,” says Manay Gina, referring to the dirty tactics and black propaganda being waged against her by the other candidate.

She says, “Sa totoo lang, ‘di ko sila pinapansin. The Lims refuse to see that this election is not really about us. It’s about the people ——kung sino sa aming mga kandidato ang subok na at talagang may kakayahang magbigay ng tunay na serbisyo sa tao.”

Manay Gina acknowledges the cheers from the crowd during the Bangus Festival Parade.

“Election lang ito, at hindi dapat isantabi yung mga good values natin sa buhay. Kahit ano ang ibato nila sa akin. I always remember that I am doing this to help others. Saka alam naman ng tao ang totoo.”

San Jacinto Councilor Rosalie Ellasus, a supporter of De Venecia, is sad that the other candidate had to espouse hatred between the Filipino-Chinese and Filipinos.

De Venecia’s camp believe that, her opponent recently launched a black propaganda against herself in the hope of gaining sympathy from the public.

Paawa effect, kunwari inaapi siya, at Manay Gina’s expense. Pero halata, kasi the news about it started from their camp, and in a snap, the candidate was on the road, in a feeble attempt to “defend” herself.”

Siguro, gustong mapag-usapan. However, negative campaign doesn’t work,” adds Ellasus, a veteran politician and environmentalist.
