LINGAYEN–The 3rd Pangasinan Tourism and Trade Expo dubbed “Aliguas ed Turismo Tan Ekonomya” kicked off April 23 and will be open until May 10 as a major attraction in this year’s Pista’y Dayat celebration.

Maria Luisa Elduayan, chief of the Tourism Division, said 94 exhibitors, including 13 One-Town-One-Product (OTOP) participants, are joining the event being held at the back of the Urduja House.

The event, showcasing the province’s prime destinations and the best local produce, aims to boost the local tourism industry.

Elduayan cited the rise in the tourism industry when Gov. Amado Espino, Jr. started a major facelift of the entire capitol complex here, which is now considered as the province’s main tourism attraction.

With the improved facilities, the governor is now focusing on the province’s “best products” to further promote tourism, Elduayan added.

The Pista’y Dayat festival, she said, is one of the best avenues where visitors and Pangasinenses can learn about the various products from different towns and cities throughout the province.

Aside from the OTOP goods, the tourism and trade exhibit will feature Pangasinan’s finest cuisine through various small and medium enterprise food carts, fine craftsmanship in wood and bamboo furniture, and the wide array of agricultural products that have won for the province the monicker as “food basket of northern Luzon”.–LM
