Guam jobs for Pangasinan skilled workers
LINGAYEN–The provincial government is set to start manpower pooling for possible employment in Guam.
Alex Ferrer, chief of the Provincial Employment Service Office, said the province wants to take advantage of the available work opportunities there. The project requires 10,000 workers to help construct a big U.S. military base.
“We are doing this early because we want a bigger share of the labor pie that is available in Guam,” he said.
Ferrer said Governor Amado Espino Jr. already established contact with the governor and other officials of Guam to personally ask that Pangasinan workers be given priority for placement.
The skilled workers that will be needed include carpenters, masons, pipe fitters, steelers and welders aged 25 to 45 years old.
Managerial or supervisory posts are also open to workers 25 to 50 years old.
Ferrer said skilled workers must have the necessary experience if they are not graduates of the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA).
Ex-Overseas Filipino Workers are also welcome to enter their names in the pool, he added.–LM
