City treasurer told to go on leave

SAN CARLOS CITY – The city treasurer who was the subject of a petition for removal by his subordinates and market vendors finally filed for a leave of absence after he also incurred the ire of the city mayor.

     City Treasurer Arturo Mandapat has been on leave of absence since August 7. Rolando Aglibot, assistant treasurer of Alaminos City, was assigned as acting city treasurer.

     City Mayor Jolly Resuello said he has also asked the Department of Finance for the transfer of Mandapat, who has been in his position since the 1980s.

     Mandapat has been in government service 32 years and is already due for retirement,

     The city mayor complained that Mandapat has become difficult to work with recently but did not elaborate and merely said he has documents to prove his allegations against the treasurer.

    “We no longer have good working relations,” Resuello said.– EVA
