UPang launches project CESAR
The University The University of Pangasinan last week launched “CESAR”, a community-oriented program that would put more meaning to its vow to transform individuals and communities.
CESAR, an acronym for Community Extension Services through Action and Research in honor of its chairman Cesar Duque who inspired it, will use and align its resources to develop the community; uplift the less privileged and be a catalyst for change.
Dr. Edwin Cancino, director of the university’s extension services, said the program will include adoption of a barangay, school-based learning, higher education equity scheme, partnership with professional organizations and industries, complementing government programs.
At its launching at the university gym, UPANG faculty and students led by President Catalino Rivera, Senior Vice President Maritetta Sorio, Vice President for Academic Affairs Ofelia Rayos were joined by Mayor Roy Macanlalay, Reggie Ubando of Pamet Pangasinan, Tony Boquiren of CCTE, Dr. Lucy Honrado of the Philippine Dental Association, Dr. Amy Theresa Bolos-Olaer of the Pangasinan Dental Society, and ranking officers of the National Service Training Program Facilitators,.
The project, Cancino said noted UPANG’s vast resources which can be tapped for community development.
After the launching rites, the project’s giant emblem was unfurled by university officials and guests.
Sorio delivered the closing remarks.
