More projects in Dagupan now nearing completion
SEVERAL multi-million peso projects of the Dagupan City government are ongoing despite the election ban and are expected to be completed in the next quarter.
City Planning and Development Coordinator Romeo Rosario said these projects had been funded, bid and already started before the start of the election period in January this year and therefore, exempted from the public works ban.
The projects include a city library at the West Central Elementary School premises, a Productivity Center at the A.B. Fernandez Avenue West on a lot formerly occupied by the Human Settlement Center, complete renovation of City Hall and improvement of the different offices.
A Children’s Park is also being constructed by the city in Barangay Pantal, under the new Pantal Bridge. The construction of the Ferry/Boat Terminal in Babaliwan Area is also proceeding on schedule.
Rosario said the construction of the Ferry/Terminal Park is in anticipation of the realization of the Tri-City Ferry Service being planned by the three cities of Alaminos, Dagupan and San Fernando to commute passengers across the Lingayen Gulf.
The project will be implemented soon as the three cities shall have already acquired their floating assets.
Rosario also said the repair of damaged street lights has been completed while the restoration of the sidewalks on Arellano Street is already 75 per cent complete.
The sidewalks on Gomez, Zamora and Galvan Streets have been fully restored to pedestrian traffic.
Rosario also announced that the completion of the reconstruction of the swimming pool at the Tondaligan Park and is ready to be leased to a private operator.
The Mayor’s Shed at Tondaligan Park is now ready to serve as venue for meetings. LM
