Pangasinenses finish 1st and 3rd in duathlon event
CLARK FIELD, PAMPANGA–National team member Robeno Javier of Villasis and Urdaneta City son Robinson Esteves placed first and third, respectively, in the 2012 Unilab Active Health Duathlon Championship held here last September 9.
After a close duel in the 6-kilometer first run leg with Manileno John Chicano, Javier, whose specialty is bicycle racing, pulled away in the 60-kilometer bike leg and never looked back in the third transition, a 4-kilometer second footrace to win the male open category.
Javier clocked in two hours, 17 minutes and nine seconds.
Chicano came in second position 44 seconds behind Javier while Esteves settled for third with a time of 2:18:18.
The run-bike-run event was organized by Bike King headed by its chief executive officer Raul Cuevas and was sponsored by Unilab and supported by Manila North Tollways Corporation and Holiday Inn Clark.–JAGJr.
