Barangay chairman arrested for illegal drugs
MANGATAREM–A barangay chairman here was arrested by the police following a raid in his house in Barangay Quezon that yielded nine sachets containing shabu and six pieces of aluminum foil with suspected shabu residue.
Chief Inspector Fidel Junio of the town police identified the suspect as Ricardo Torres Jr., barangay chairman of Quezon.
The raid on the house of Torres at 10:00 a.m. of September 11 was conducted by the Mangatarem Police in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) based on a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Vice Executive Judge Renato Pinlac of Branch 57.
Torres is now lodged in jail after he was charged with a case for violation of Art. II Sec 11 and Sec12 of Republic Act 9165, the anti-drug law of 2002 as amended.
The suspect had long been placed under surveillance by the police for suspected drug activities.
