Cable wire thefts in San Jacinto checked

By August 13, 2006Inside News, News

SAN JACINTO – The local police here are confident that the series of cable and electric wire theft in the town will now be a thing of the past.

P/Chief Inspector Ferdinand de Asis, police chief here, expressed the town’s confidence after effecting a close collaboration among the police, the barangay officials and members of non-government organizations, including the various public utility companies victimized by the wire thieves.

The police said a number of suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with these theft cases as a result of the effective collaboration in the community.

De Asis said the series of arrests have significantly cut off the support that the syndicate enjoyed earlier from some residents. He, however, did not provide more details on the arrests made.

He said day and night foot patrols by the police and barangay tanods will continue.

In consonance with the campaign, he expects other crimes and illegal activities in the town to diminish. – A.P.E.
