Seaplanes to service tourists in Hundred Islands

ALAMINOS CITY – Around this city and landing on the waters of Hundred Islands will soon be a regular occurrence.

Next month, AeroFlite Airways, a Filipino-owned company, is set to base two 12-seater seaplanes here for flights over the islands or to other beach destinations in Luzon and Visayas.

Capt. Jerome John Valera, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the company, told local reporters here Monday that, their company’s operation will be the first- kind- of- its service in the Philippines.

He said the turbo-prop water aircrafts can be chartered to fly passengers from Alaminos City to other destinations in Luzon and Visayas and this will be made possible by the city government who agreed to allow the flights in and around the islands.

Tourists will enjoy the comfort and convenience of touring around the Hundred Islands by plane, fly to Subic or Clark or Laoag or even Boracay and Baguio City, Valera said.

The charter rates will be published soon.

Valera said his company also plans to establish a regular service to and fro Boracay but this will depend on the willingness of the local government there to allow it.

 Presently, the company operates a flight school based in Manila and decided only recently only start charter services using this aircraft.

“It’s what the Philippines needs to link all the islands and the resorts” Valera said.

He said they decided on starting their operations in Hundred Islands because of its proximity to Manila and the attraction that Hundred Islands provides.

City Mayor Hernani Braganza told local newsmen that AeroFlite expects to be fully operational by September.

“This will bring the Hundred Islands closer to destinations from all around regions 1, 3 and CAR (Cordillera Administrative Region), he said.

This will be a big boost to the province of Pangasinan in terms of tourism and investments,” he added.

He said with the Aeroflite planes, Pangasinan as well as Hundred Islands will be much more accessible for potential visitors and investors. – EVA
