Jobseekers warned vs. illegal recruiters
ILLEGAL recruiters continue to operate in the province and victimize people, mostly from the rural areas, according to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
NBI Pangasinan Agent-in-Charge Rogelio Mamauaga warned the public and urged them to be more cautious about job recruiters who require advance deposits or fees for overseas work placements.
“Sinasamantala nila ang kahirapan at gusto naman ng ating mga kababayan na umangat sa kanilang kabuhayan sa pamamagitan ng pag-aabroad,” Mamauag said during a radio program of the Philippine Information Agency over Radyo ng Bayan.
Mamauag said the NBI can be called on to assist via its cellular hotlines 09081584000 and 09063524000.
NBI launched last December the program ‘Krimen sa Barangay Isumbong sa NBI’, intended to solicit public support and cooperation at the community level.
He added that law enforcement agencies like the NBI and the police will be more effective in the campaign against criminality if the people fully cooperate.
NBI CLEARANCE
He clarified that the issuance of NBI clearance is usually issued within the day if applicant does not bear a similar name with another.
In such cases, the clearance may take two to three weeks to be issued because of the ongoing transfer of the NBI Records Clearance Unit from the Carriedo office to a new one in Caloocan.—PIA
