Minimal price increase noted after ‘Glenda’
Typhoon ‘Glenda’ has not caused prices of commodities in the province to rise drastically as feared.
According to the Department of the Trade and Industry office here, prices of meat, chicken and fish remained stable in the market.
Chicken is still being sold at P110 per kilo, pork liempo, P150, pork meat with bones, P140; beef lean meat, P190; beef with bones, P160; and bangus in medium size is being sold at P80 to P90 per kilo.
Only prices of vegetables have shown minimal increase this week owing to a lower supply in the province.
A report sent by the National Food Authority to the DTI said that prices of rice also remained constant.
Rice (Fancy – Aroma) is being sold in the market at from P27 to P28 per kilo, ordinary, P20 to P21, special, P23 to P24, while NFA rice is P18 per kilo.
Meanwhile, liquefied petroleum gas remains at P475 per cylinder.
But the DTI warned that prices of LPG might increase in August, since the demand is higher on account of the cold weather. Another factor is the continuing hostilities in the Middle East. – AQL
