Calasiao to honor children’s choir, chief cop

CALASIAO – This town certainly has reasons to celebrate.

The 25-member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Children’s Choir recently placed second in the World Choir Games held in Xiamen, China and its police chief was cited as one of the country’s outstanding policemen in service.

Ernesto Brosas, the town administrator, said the municipal government led by Mayor Roy Macanlalay is set to honor the choir and Supt. Policarpio Cayabyab for the honor they have given the town.

A program was scheduled last Tuesday for this purpose but this was postponed due to bad weather. A new date will be set once the weather improves.

The choir composed of elementary and high school students, all bonafide residents of the town, competed against entries from 75 countries and placed second in the children’s choir category and clinched the bronze prize in the music for the religions category during the tilt held July 14 to 21.

The choir received a silver diploma for its feat in the children’s choir category and a bronze diploma in the religious category.

The choir members’ trip was jointly sponsored by the parish here, the municipal government and other private donors.

The town plans on holding a motorcade around the processional roads here and present each member a plaque of appreciation from the mayor.

Meanwhile, P/Supt. Cayabyab was cited the best for commanding one of the best police stations in the country under the commissioned officer category. He received his citation together with the other national awardees last July 5 in Camp Crame. The awards program was jointly sponsored by Metrobank Foundation Inc. and the Rotary Club of New Manila East. – EVA
