Lambino: No politics in PADAC budget cut

By July 23, 2006Inside News, News

LINGAYEN –Vice Gov. Oscar Lambino, executive director of the Pangasinan Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) shrugged off speculations that the reason for the cut in its budget was because the council has not been performing well.

“This is  not  true,” Lambino  said, pointing out that  “all  projects of  the  PADAC  were   implemented and  very  successful.”

PADAC’s  budget for operation   this  year has been cut by  P200,000, and which amount was  reportedly transferred  to  the  intelligence fund of the PNP Provincial Office for the latter’s campaign  against  illegal  drugs.

Lambino stressed that the  Awareness, Education and Information Campaign of PADAC was  implemented  smoothly  and  had  already resulted in the filing of cases against apprehended suspects in anti-illegal drugs cases by  the  implementing  agency.

The vice governor also rejected rumors that that  the reduction of the budget for operation of PADAC was politically motivated since elections are still a year away and he has not confirmed   if he is running for the position to be vacated soon by Gov. Victor  Agbayani.- APE
