Espino urges engineers: Fix the flooding
LINGAYEN—Solve the flooding dilemma.
This was the challenge posed by Gov. Amado Espino Jr. in his keynote address before the municipal engineers from Regions 1 and 2 that gathered for the 1st Regional Conference of City and Municipal Engineers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (CMEAP) last week at the Sison Auditorium here.
Espino, in a message delivered through Provincial Administrator Rafael Baraan during the opening on August 29, urged the engineers to come up with plans to initially fix the drainage systems of their respective cities and municipalities to minimize and mitigate severe flooding that the province now constantly suffers from.
“You have a crucial role to play…to create a sustainable future and to improve the quality of life,” the governor said.
In response, Engr. Angelina M. De Vera, president of CMEAP Pangasinan Chapter, vowed that her organization will conduct researches, feasibility studies, and planning to address the flooding issue.
The three-day event also included lectures on the introduction of the Business Permit software that will provide an easier assessment process for issuing business permits.– Johanne R. Macob
