LINGAYEN–Proudly from Pangasinan.

Three Pangasinenses serving as members of the Cabinet of the President have been given commendation by the Sangguninang Panlalawigan (SP) through three separate resolutions approved last week.

Those lauded for bringing honor and pride to the province for their role in government are Secretaries Francisco Duque III, Eleazar Quinto, and Antonio Villar Jr.

Duque, who comes from Dagupan City, has been serving as Department of Health Secretary, was recently appointed the new chief of the Civil Service Commission.

“During his stint as DOH Secretary, he was able to display a high level of performance through his delivery, upliftment and improvement of health services programs for the whole country,” reads the resolution.

Quinto, another Dagupeno, was recently appointed secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). He was DENR undersecretary for field operations prior to replacing Secretary Lito Atienza who resigned to run for mayor in Manila in the coming election.

“The appointment of Honorable Eleazar Quinto richly deserves the whole province’s esteemed admiration, commendation and congratulation,” the resolution said.

Meanwhile, Villar, who hails from Sto. Tomas, has been appointed chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), concurrent to his position as chief of the Presidential Anti Smuggling Group (PASG).

The resolution states Villar’s additional appointment “is a recognition of his unassailable integrity and competence, already manifested by his numerous successes as PASG chief, highlighted by the biggest drug bust worth of billions of pesos in the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Freeport in 2008”.

All three resolutions were authored by Sixth District Board Member Alfonso Bince Jr. and co-authored by all members of the board.#
