To make Christmas meaningful, be forgiving

TODAY, December 27, is two days after Christmas 2009.

Because to me, late is never late, Merry Christmas!

What is Christmas?

Christmas is Jesus Christ.

To us, Christians, there is no Christmas if there’s no Jesus Christ.

To us, Roman Catholics, there is no Jesus Christ if there is no Christmas.

To say, “Merry Christmas!” is to greet Jesus Christ, “Happy Birthday!”

To us Christians and Roman Catholics, there is no birthday worth celebrating than that of Jesus Christ’s.

Forget about your own birthday but not Jesus Christ’s.  Our Lord Dear God. Our Boss. Our Chief.  Our Bos-Tsip.

Thus, wherever we are, we pause to say happy birthday to Jesus Christ on Christmas Day.

By greeting Him, we are one with Him, we are in Him.

How can we not love Him forever?

When He was the Son of Man, He was the epitome of everything good.

After He bade farewell, figuratively, that is, He left an indelible mark for all of us to emulate.

The Golden Rule was His:  Do not do unto others what you don’t want done unto you.

John Lennon was not original when he said, “Give Peace a Chance.”

That’s Jesus Christ’s.

That’s why in every Mass that we hear and celebrate, we say to each other, “Peace be with you.”

OK, this is a John Lennon original:  “All You Need Is Love.”

I have a T-Shirt with those words emblazoned on the front.

When a Japanese executive from Toyota Motors Corporation in Tokyo saw my T-Shirt, he exclaimed, “Hey, that’s my favorite motto in life.”

That was only last October, when I attended the Tokyo Motor Show at the Makuhari Messe, Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

The executive’s remarks made my Tokyo trip complete.

But then, even that line was Jesus Christ inspired.

For, Jesus Christ has said, “Love your enemies more than your friends.”

What could be a more graphic definition of true love than that?

A contradiction, you might say, giving more love to an enemy than to a friend?

Complain not, fellas.

For, God doesn’t make mistakes or He isn’t God.

So, if you say Jesus Christ is God, heed His every word.

Besides, the essence of love as per Jesus Christ our Dear God’s reminder is forgiving.

Yes, we say, it is better to give than to receive.

But let’s improve that by adding three letters to the word give, thus, “It is always best to FORgive.”

You forgive all the time, I bet you: You will develop a hotline to Jesus Christ.

For, I say to you, be a giver all of the time, but, please, develop the habit of forgiving – and Jesus Christ will dwell in your heart forever.

And when He is always in your heart, it’d be Christmas every day. Forever.

Isn’t that the real essence of Christmas?

I guess our Bos-Tsip agrees.

Whole heartedly, even.
