ROSALES–Marathon enthusiasts in this town will test their mettle in the Second Inter-Barangay Triathlon of Rosales Challenge (IBTOR) on December 28.

Mayor Ricardo Revita said some 50 runners have registered in this year’s version of the triathlon.

Sponsored by the local government of Rosales, the marathon will be staged in 3 segments:  swimming (250 meters), rough road running (five kilometers), biking (10 kilometers), and paved road running (two kilometers).

The mayor expressed confidence that the activity will soon gain national recognition and will help put Rosales town in the tourism map of the Philippines.

Last year’s event was cited as the Best Tourism Practices, Best Tourism Event-Sports/Adventure Category (Municipal Level) at the 10th National Convention of Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines.

Revita said the Ibtor Challenge was adapted from the Ilocano word “Ibtor” that translates to strength and endurance.

This year’s Ibtor Challenge committee is chaired by Ross Luke, a British national recently adopted as ‘Son of Rosales’.
