63-year old aspires to be mayor of 2 towns
A 63-year old man has filed a certificate of candidacy (COC) to become mayor, but not just in one town.
Benjamin Sornoza Espinoza has been discovered by Commission on Elections (Comelec) officials to have filed two Certificates of Candidacy for mayorship, one in San Jacinto and the other in Pozorrubio.
Espinoza claims to be a resident and registered voter in both towns although he used different nicknames and different photos in the two COCs.
A letter jointly signed by the election officers of San Jacinto and Pozorrubio has been sent to Comelec Chairman Jose Melo asking for appropriate legal action on Espinoza.
Lawyer Reddy Balarbar, the provincial election supervisor of Pangasinan, told The PUNCH that in his long years in the Comelec, this was the first time he encountered such a case.#
