BINALONAN Mayor Ramon Guico Jr.  said the popularity of the administration’s presidential and vice presidential candidates, Gilbert Teodoro Jr. and Edu Manzano, has began to rise across the country.

Though the official campaign period has yet to start, Guico, president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, noted that the Gibo-Edu tandem is “soaring high” in places they have visited.

However, Guico, one of three senatorial candidates from Pangasinan in the May 2010 election under the ruling party’s banner, admitted he has not started to introduce himself around the country.

He said he aims to become the voice of mayors in the Senate and push for a bigger share of the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) shares to local government units, from 60-40 share in favor of the national government to 50-50 sharing. – LM
