BINALONAN Mayor Ramon Guico Jr., who was included in the administration party’s senatorial candidates in the May 2010 election, said he is still considering his original plan of running as congressman for the 5th District.

Guico, president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP), said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo told him that more than 800 mayors in the country have signed a manifesto urging him to run for a seat in the senate.

In an interview with The PUNCH, Guico said he was not aware of the manifesto until the President, his cousin, informed him about it.

So, nagulat ako nung sabihin sa akin ni Presidente yun at ipinakita sa akin ang kopya,” he said.

“That’s what I am thinking about now I still have to decide,” added Guico, mayor for 19 years and three-term president of the influential LMP.

Guico said he is not sure if his recourses and health and take on a national campaign, at the same time he said he has already announced to the local media his plan to run for the congressional post where he will be up against Sison Mayor Kimi Cojuangco, wife of the incumbent 5th District Rep. Mark Cojuangco.

Baka sabihin nila nabayaran ako ng mga Cojuangco,” he said, in case he backs out. #
