MALASIQUI–President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo arrived here last week to inaugurate two new public buildings in the 3rd District on the occasion of the birthday of 3rd District Rep. Ma. Rachel Arenas.

The President also led the ceremonies for the blessing of the still unfinished Arenas Civic Center and inspected the ongoing reconstruction work on flood control projects around the Agno River destroyed by Typhoon Pepeng.

Arenas provided P35-million from her Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) for the center, which will have a 4,000 seating capacity. Another P15 million is needed to complete the project.

Arroyo then led the groundbreaking ceremony for a new gymnasium in San Carlos City.

Arenas and the city government have appropriated P6 million each for the 2,500-seat leisure center.

“The President had graciously and generously prioritized projects in the 3rd District,” said Arenas, one of the closest allies of the President in the province.

She said during her first term, she had brought in numerous projects with the help of the President like roads and bridges, day care centers, flood mitigation projects, irrigation facilities, school buildings, among others.

The President was joined by Gov. Amado Espino Jr., Rosemarie ‘Baby’ Arenas, the congresswoman’s mother; Sto. Tomas Mayor Vivien Villar and all the mayors in the 3rd District.#
