Hepa vaccination in 4th District
SOME 3,000 residents of the 4th District will receive free vaccination against Hepatitis B, a highly infectious disease, through the health-related projects of Congressman Jose de Venecia Jr. and his wife Gina.
The vaccination started on Monday with municipal and barangay officials and their spouses as initial beneficiaries.
Mrs. De Venecia said the municipal and barangay officials were the first to undergo vaccination because they are more prone to be afflicted with the virus as they are exposed to more people in their daily work-related activities.
Hepatitis B can be transmitted by an infected person through widely- used social gestures such as shaking hands or kissing on the cheeks.
Dr. Nestor Cerezo of the Region 1 Medical Center, head of a team of medical personnel administering the injections, said the virus of the disease can be transmitted through saliva, sweat, blood and other body fluids.—LM
