Bigger Sari-Sari Store Fair set next year

FOLLOWING the success of the 3rd CSI Sari-Sari Store Fair held in Dagupan last November 13 -15, next year’s event is already being planned to be bigger, making it a five-day fair.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, president and chair of the CSI Group of Companies said even Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. agreed that three days is too short for such a big economic activity.

The vice mayor said more exhibitors who can give not only bigger discount privileges and more perks to buyers will be invited to next year’s event.

Meanwhile, local businessmen hailed the annual event as a successful strategy in stimulating the sluggish economy in the city following the recent flood.

The exhibitors reported increased sales of up to 300 per cent higher than last year’s, an indication that the fair was widely patronized by buyers not only from the ranks of sari-sari store owners but also consumers.

The fair was co-sponsored by the Dagupan City government, Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Labor and Employment, which conducted a job fair during the event.

The “negosyo” forum sessions led by successful entrepreneurs and representatives of suppliers on tips on running a retail business, was a hit among participants.—LM
