LINGAYEN–While the Gov. Amado Espino Jr. is still making up his mind on who his running mate will be as Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard bearer, the Victor Agbayani-Oscar Lambino tandem will be the team for the Liberal Party.

Lambino confirmed that an understanding on the team-up has been reached between him and 2nd District representative Agbayani and LP.

At the same time, he predicts new political alliances and more defection from the Lakas-Kampi-CMD to the Liberal Party in the weeks ahead following the exodus of 50 local politicians from the administration party last Friday.

Agbayani and Lambino, both former co-chairmen of Lakas-CMD in the province, and other former Lakas leaders were sworn in by former Sen. Franklin Drilon and Sen. Mar Roxas, LP chairman and president respectively of LP.

They were joined by First District Board Member Danilo Dizon, Mayors Hernani Braganza of Alaminos City and Marcelo Navarro Jr. of Bani, and Vice Mayors Ferdinand Galang of Calasiao and Roldan Sagles of Aguilar and others.

He said he expects more close allies of the administration to defect to the LP as the party’s line-up for all local posts for the 2010 elections is being finalized, a situation he said that will greatly diminish the stronghold of Lakas-Kampi in the province.

While expressing regret leaving the party he served for 17 years, Lambino said he found the opportunity to serve higher interests, those of his constituents in the province.

The former vice governor also pointed out that new political alliances will be formed citing his own support for Third District Rep. Rachel Arenas, Lakas-Kampi’s bet in next year’s elections notwithstanding his new party affiliation, an alliance he said that the LP did not oppose.

He added that the prospect of Sison Mayor Kimi Cojuangco, the NPC candidate for the Fifth District, being adopted by the LP, is likely to happen. LM
