ROSALES–Learning its bitter lessons from the massive devastation by Typhoon Pepeng last month, the local government here has began a series of seminars on rescue and survival last Nov. 13 for municipal disaster coordinating council officials in the province.

Mayor Ricardo Revita said he sent invitations to various municipalities including their police, fire service, barangay council, among others to avail themselves of this program that will be handled by a foreign-trained person on rescue and survival aspects.

The program includes lectures and actual training like advanced knowledge on rope management, different types of knots including tying, splicing, tightening, and anchoring as well as maneuvering rubber boats.

For actual demonstrations, the participants will be brought to the town’s man-made dam and at the Agno River to experience actual water current, he said.

“This training is very timely especially for the towns along the Agno River because this river has become unpredictable plus the climate change,” Revita said.
