MALASIQUI – The Arroyo administration’s aim to wipe out insurgency throughout the country in two years won the backing of the provincial government.

Vice Gov. Oscar Lambino said he and the other officials of the province are solidly behind resident Gloria Arroyo’s decision to quickly put an end to insurgency that had set back development for many long years.

He said the decision of the President to crush the New People’s Army deserves the support of everybody, including those in Pangasinan.

President Arroyo earlier set aside P1 billion to be spent in the all-out war against the NPA which had been waging a guerilla war against the government for over 30 years now.

Vice Gov. Lambino said that because of their continuous harassment of military personnel and civilians, the leftist elements have exhausted the patience of the government.

“It is really about time that the government puts an end to all of these in order to make our country move forward,” he said.

He admitted that while the problem of insurgency is not presently felt in the province, there are indications the rebels may be exacting revolutionary taxes in some areas of eastern and western Pangasinan.
