15th Milo Little Olympics Luzon kicks off

LINGAYEN—Some 3,500 student-athletes from four regions in northern Luzon gathered at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) here for the opening of the 15th Milo Little Olympics Luzon Leg last August 17.

The participants are from Regions I, II, III, and the Cordillera Autonomous Region; the champions will go on to represent Luzon in the National Milo Little Olympics to be held in Marikina late this year.

In an interview with The PUNCH, Mayor Ernesto C. Castañeda Jr. of host town Lingayen said his municipality and the provincial government headed by Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. are giving their full support to the sporting event.

Bilang isang magulang at chief executive ng bayan, pangarap nating maging maganda ang future ng ating mga anak,” Castañeda said.

For his part, Milo Sports Executive Robbie de Vera said with the help of the local government and the Department of Education, the company is able to continuously organize sports events aimed to “build champions not just in sports, but in life.”

The athletes will compete in the following events that will be held in the following venues: athletics, badminton, football, gymnastics (NRSCC), sepak takraw (Lingayen I Central School), swimming (NRSCC and PNP Pangasinan Provincial Office), and volleyball (NRSCC/PSU/ Tonton Elementary School, Lingayen); chess, scrabble, taekwondo, table tennis (Robinson’s Place, Calasiao).

There will also be side events such as the search for the Ms. Milo Little Olympics, Biggest Delegation, Best in Saludo, Loudest Cheer, and Most Disciplined Delegation.
