The rescue and relief plan . . .

LINGAYEN–The Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) launched a coordinated search and rescue operation in severely flooded areas in the province at the height of the calamity that struck Thursday.

It divided the affected areas into three sectors and each team was manned by composite groups.

Tactical Group Alpha (TGA), headed by Col. Alejandro Valerio, was composed of SBMA (Subic Bay Metropolitan Area) Rescue Team equipped with 3 rubber boats; 12-man Sual Rescue Team equipped 2 ambulances, 1 fire truck and 2 chainsaws; 3 MIC and 701 with 12 personnel and 1 M35 truck; RMG with 1 truck; and the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) with 1 truck, was deployed in San Fabian, San Jacinto, Mapandan, Mangaldan, Manaoag, Dagupan Calasiao and Sta. Barbara.

Tactical Group Bravo (TGB), headed by a Lt. Valdez, was composed of 1 platoon, 3 MIC with 23 personnel and the Maritime Group with 18 personnel and 2 rubber boats, operated mainly in Bayambang.

TGA was complemented by Tactical Group Charlie (TGC), under Commander Yan Peralta, with 2 rubber boats, 1 M35 truck and with 11 personnel from the Philippine Navy plus personnel from RMG, in its operation in San Fabian.

The PDCC Rescue unit with 2 rubber boats, DRRT TM3, under Commander Jimenez, composed of 2 officers and 10 enlisted personnel, with 1 rubber boat and 1 M35 truck, the Philippine Marines with 26 personnel, 2 rubber boats and 1 M35 truck, the NAVSOG with 1 officer, 13 enlisted personnel, one rubber boat and 1 M35 truck and the NATC with 3 officers, 14 enlisted personnel, 1 rubber boat and 1 M35 truck were already deployed in the Bautista and Rosales.

The Philippine Coast-guard deployed 2TM SOG with 12 drivers and 3 Med First Riders and 2 RB and 1 truck operating in the vicinity of SM Rosales, 6 personnel in the CDCC Dagupan and 4 personnel at the San Roque Dam.

USS Tortoga and USS Harper Perry anchored in Lingayen Gulf Saturday morning to help in search and rescue operations.

Ready-to-eat meals were airdropped a Philippine Navy chopper in Mangaldan where many barangays could be reached by rescue teams.

Hundreds of shoppers and families that were stranded after they sought shelter in SM city Rosales were also rescued by teams organized by the PDCC. (PIO)
