THE seven-time cycling sprint king from Pangasinan almost died when he ran over a dog in the wee hours of September 22.

Tour veteran Enrique Domingo, 40, married and born in Barangay Panggalangan, San Carlos City was aboard his motorcycle, with his crash helmet, cruising the national highway of Tereza, Rizal when a dog suddenly crossed his path, causing him to fall head first and hit the pavement resulting in multiple severe injuries.

Bystanders rushed Domingo to V. Luna General Hospital with blood oozing from his ear. He was operated on by doctors immediately and discovered two broken ribs and a fracture on his arm.

He is still currently under observation at the hospital.

Domingo, a member of the Philippine Army with a rank of sergeant with the Special Services Group, was on his way to work in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City when the accident happened.

His last major race was the 2009 Padyak Pinoy held May 8-15 where he did not place prominently but survived the grueling eight-day road battle along the national highways of central and Northern Luzon.—JAGJr.
