DAGUPAN was awarded by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in Region 1 as among the very few government agencies that has fully complied with the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 or Republic Act No. 9485.

The award was received by Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. from Civil Service Commission Regional Director Atty. Myrna Macatangay in a ceremony on Sept. 15 at the CSI the City Mall in San Fernando City, La Union.

Dagupan was among the six government agencies earlier picked by the CSC Field Office in Western Pangasinan as outstanding in point of compliance to the Anti-Red Tape Act.

The city went on to bag the regional award in the search launched for the 109th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.

The other five provincial winners are the Basista Water District, Municipality of Sual, Municipality of San Fabian, Mangaldan Water District and the Bayambang Water District.

Romulo Nabua of the CSC field office in Western Pangasinan said these six agencies have fully complied with the Anti-Red Tape Act by adopting their respective Citizen’s Charter and posting it visibly in their front line offices to inform the public on whom or where they should go to for the speedy processing of their papers.

Nabua, speaking during the breakfast forum on Thursday of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters sa Pilipinas (KBP), said almost 95 per cent of the agencies in western Pangasinan have already complied with the Citizen’s Charter requirement but not many have made public postings.

Nabua said Dagupan made an exemplary move by not just posting their charter but designating front line officers to attend to people following up on their papers.

“We are very grateful with our partners in Western Pangasinan for their support and assistance to the very important program of the government, which is the Anti-Red Tape Act,” Nabua said. —LM
