SAN MANUEL -The National Transmission Commission (TransCo) has reiterated its readiness to be privatized.

The statement was again echoed by Jose Arellano, TransCo area manager based here, on the heels of the announcement by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) that Transco ranked fifth in terms of good corporate governance among the country’s state-owned enterprises (SOE).

TransCo President Alan Ortiz said everyone in the organization, from the rank and file to the board members, feels honored and inspired by the recognition conferred by the ICD.

“This is a testament to our continuing efforts to institute and improve corporate governance mechanisms in the way we do things,” Ortiz said.  “The future concessionaire of TransCo will find that everything is already in place when it comes in”, he added.

ICD is a non-profit organization promoting corporate governance reform and professional corporate directorship in the Philippines.

Quoting Ortiz, Arellano said Transco always strived to be the best it can be, adding that all its regional Operations and Maintenance Groups as well as key functional groups are ISO 9001-2000-certified.
