34 evacuation centers house 5,653 flood victims
LINGAYEN—Thirty-four evacuation centers are now providing temporary shelters to some 5,653 people affected by flooding in the towns of Aguilar, Bugallon, Lingayen, Mangatarem, Urbiztondo, Bayambang, Calasiao, Bautista and San Carlos City.
Based on the latest report of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), the number of evacuees affected by flooding brought about by the weeklong monsoon rains has increased from 4,914 persons in August 9 to 5,653 as of 11 a.m. of August 10.
Rescue operations were being conducted since early morning of Friday, particularly in Barangays Balococ, Lasip and Basing, all located in the southern part of Lingayen, and also in Aguilar and Bugallon towns.
On August 9, rescue and relief operations composed of 10 teams with 9 dump trucks and one L-300 van were conducted in San Jose, Aguilar, Barangay Dorongan and Barangay Sawat in Mangatarem, Salasa-Socony in Bugallon, Boc-Boc West in Aguilar and Barangays San Francisco, Magtaking, Gueset, Polong,Samat, Bacabac, Salasa, Cabayawasan, Umanday, Balaoen, Cayanga, Salomague Surand Salomague Norte also of Bugallon, Barangays Guilew and Supo in San Carlos City and in Barangay Dorongan, Lingayen.
Towns affected by floodwaters are conducting their own relief operations supported by the provincial government where 3,080 family packs were distributed to evacuation centers in Dasol, Aguilar, Bugallon, Mangatarem, Bayambang, Calasiao and Bautista.
ROAD CONDITIONS
On road conditions, four southern barangays in Lingayen are currently not passable to all types of vehicles. These are: Barangay Wawa-Basing boundary, Rosario-Lasip boundary, Bantayan and Balococ as floodwater are now about knee-deep to chest-deep in height.
All main roads in the province are passable except Salasa road in Bugallon where light vehicles cannot pass due to flooding.
San Roque Dam water level elevation as of 11 a.m. of August 10 is at 280.32 meters above sea level with one gate open at 0.5 meters and water inflow of 228.82 cubic meters per second (cms) and water outflow of 331.4 cms.
Weather advisory as of Friday states that southwest monsoon will continue to bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms with widespread rains over Northern and Central Luzon, particularly in the provinces of Ilocos, La Union, Zambales, Pampanga, Bataan, Tarlac, Bulacan and Pangasinan.
