End of flooding in Calasiao commercial area seen
CALASIAO–Puto vendors in Calasiao can soon heave a sigh of relief and expect more brisk sales as the often-flooded road fronting their row of stalls is now being raised by one meter.
The project, estimated to cost P19 million for both the road upgrade and drainage system improvement, will be financed from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of 3rd District Rep. Rachel Arenas.
Arenas, in an inter view at the inauguration of the newly-opened graded road in Maningding, Sta. Barbara, said she is happy to fund that project knowing that flooding has been a perennial problem in the town’s commercial area.
Pangasinan sub-district engineer Marietta Mendoza confirmed that the 200-meter road being raised by almost one meter is part of P1 billion worth of infrastructure development projects of Arenas in the district.
The portion of the road in Barangay Maningding, measuring 600 meters, was raised too at costs P12 million.
“If you will include the congresswoman’s project with the NIA (National Irrigation Administration), it is more than P1 billion worth now,” Mendoza said.
The other projects include other roads; bridges, including the Calvo bridge between Bayambang and Bautista; flood control; school buildings and gymnasium. —LM
