Alaminos student tops ASEAN Quiz regional finals
ALAMINOS CITY–A student of the Polo National High School here topped the ASEAN Quiz regional match held recently and will move on to compete in the national finals on September 10-13.
Jasmin Pagaduan, who represented Alaminos City Division in the regional level, beat finalists from 14 divisions in Region 1 during the contest held at the Division Conference Center in San Fernando City on July 24.
The national finals will be held in Quezon City and will be aired live over NBN Channel 4.
If Pagaduan finishes at least second place over-all in the national finals, she will automatically gain a slot in the Philippine team that will represent the country in the 4th Regional ASEAN Quiz.
Pagaduan, with her coach, principal, supervisor and superintendent, recently made a call on Mayor Hernani Braganza to thank him for his administration’s full support.
“I felt I was just lucky on that day but sometimes it really boils down to who deserves it more and has the will to win,” Pagaduan said.
The ASEAN championship scheduled on November will be held in the country for the first time.
The ASEAN Quiz, initiated by Malaysia’s Ministry of Information in 2006, aims to raise ASEAN awareness among the young generation of the region’s citizens.#
