URDANETA CITY–Two truckloads of imported onions, garlic, pepper and monggo were seized by operatives of the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) on Thursday at the old cattle market here after the owners failed to show importation documents.

The PASG has been monitoring movements of illegally imported vegetable products that have been flooding local markets to the disadvantage of local producers.

Anacleto Aquino, PASG intelligence officer in Region 1, told The PUNCH that the owners of the seized goods, Chinese-Filipino businessmen, were unable to present the required papers for the cargo in their trucks with plate numbers RFR 392 and YGT 198.

Only a receipt of one truck showing payment from their source in Manila was presented to the PASG operatives.

PASG is now tracking warehouses with imported onions and garlic. #
