Propelled by their player from Pangasinan, the La Salle B Lady Archers prevailed to win the 3rd leg of the Petron Ladies Beach Volleyball Tournament held on July 25 at Purok Marcela Beach Resort in Lingayen.

Lingayen-born Jennifer Manzano provided the stabilizing set plays with her partner April Almaden from Surigao del Sur, leading their team to an easy 21-7, 21-7 best-of-three series victory over the Lady Blue Eagles.

The Lady Archers reaffirmed their mastery over the Lady Blue Eagles, having beaten them in their previous encounters.

Hundreds of spectators, ignoring the humidity and the heat of the sun, watched the event and cheered their townmate Manzano.

The Manzano-Almaden duo were dominant on defense, rejecting 12 of the Lady Blue Eagles shots, and combined 21 successful spikes against only five from their rivals’ pair of Asia Urquico and Sharah So.

The 5’10” Manzano of Barangay Balangobong and the 5’8′ Almaden, both 20 years old, and the runners-up received their trophy and other prizes from P/CSupt. Francisco Manalo, coordinator of the event, assisted by P/Sr. Supts. Jessie Cardona and Jim Macaraeg and Lingayen alderman Ramon Bataoil.

“We will continue to support sports development in the best way that we can and encourage the young ones to get involved into disciplines which we believe is the best way to curb or at least minimize the drug menace,” Police Director Leopoldo N. Bataoil, director of Integrated Police Operations-Northern Luzon a native of Lingayen he added.

The 4th leg of the tournament will be held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan in September. — JAGJr.
